It was a tough job to consume Eat Real snacks, but someone had to do it. The team at ‘Eat Real’ sent me a lovely little package bursting with their delicious ‘chips’ to sample. It took me a couple of weeks to devour the lot but somewhow I managed it!
My favourite flavours were from the Quinoa range with Sour Cream and Chive and Hot and Spicy. I didn’t really like the texture and shape of the Hummus/Lentil chips but that might just be down to personal taste and preference. These crisps are obviously aimed at the buyer looking for an alternative flavour and use of ingredients, as opposed to your classic ready salted or salt and vinegar crisps fan. Quinoa dominated the food press a couple of years ago and this trend/fad seems to have fizzled out, however it is interesting to see this ingredient being used as a snack.
Typically I do not buy many savoury products, however I think any of these packets would be tasty served alongside a decent pot of houmous (homemade of course!) I think these are ideal to buy if you have gluten free friends to cater for (which I do) and are light snacks that do not leave you feeling bloated. As per the packaging above, these gluten free snacks are suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.
In these (small) quantities I do not think it should matter that I am eating gluten free products; however I am aware that it is not necessarily beneficial nor healthy to eat gluten free should you be tolerant of gluten.
I have seen Eat Real products in the supermarket before but had not tried any of their ranges. A little more about the company and their ethos…
“Eat Real snacks, fruit and nut bars are based on three very simple concepts that are Taste, Nutrition and Real Ingredients.
Our desire is to create a product that is an enjoyable healthy alternative to standard snack and confectionery items and to distinguish ourselves from other brands that are ever present on our supermarket shelves.
Made from real, natural ingredients with no added nasties (artificial flavourings, colourings and preservatives), we have something for the whole family that can be enjoyed at any time of the day!”
I would buy the Quinoa chips again as they were so easy to eat and packed full of flavour.
Have you tried anything from the Eat Real company? I am interested to see what other vegetarian/vegan delights that they have to offer in the future…
